DT 148 - App Thursday

App Thursday does not disappoint as Art factora, Isaac Kendall, Brooks Duncan all chase David Hathaway for this months crown. 

DT 147- HeartBleed & Farewell XP

s expected, the HearBleed Bug dominates the show. Isaac Kendall and Steve discuss what the bug is, and what we should be doing about it. Julian Sanders weighs in on the end of an era, as Microsoft withdraw support for Windows XP. What you do with your computers? Should you be upgrading? Is it safe to not upgrade them? Julian has answers to all of these questions I have spoken a lot lately about Dropbox and Google Drive, and they are excellent online storage and file sharing solutions, iDrive is another service in that category, but iDrive adds backup to the equation.

DT 146 - Samsung Galaxy S5 & Data Mining

Gillian Shaw of the Vancouver Sun is always a welcome guest on Dotto Tech and this week is no exception. Gillian has been writing about local tech pioneers in southern BC and has written a terrific piece on a Victoria based EchoSec who are mastering the art of Data Mining. 

Samsung showed John Biehler and I their latest flagship SmartPhone, the Galaxy S5 it is an impressive slab of technology. John and I discuss it in detail.

Microsoft is making some significant changes to Windows 8.1, Julian Sanders of London Drugs fills us in.

DT 144 - SXSW and Social Media Camp 2014

We are heading into conference season, one of the biggest and most unique is South by Southwest (SXSW). Dotto Tech regular Mike Vardy made his maiden visit to SXSW and takes the time to share his experiences with us.

Paul Holes and Chris Burdge are the founders of a West Coast tradition, Social Media Camp 2014 is entering it’s 5th year and has become the social media event of the season, May 1-3 in Victoria.

Of course Julian Sanders has some great food for thought, this week on a new program by Symantec which should simplify virus protection.

This week we welcome Michael Cummings, one of the organizers of the BIL Conference. Originally a tag along conference of the world famous TED TALKS The Bil Conference has grown into an event all of it's own. Coming up March 22/23 in Vancouver.

DT 140 - App Thursday

It is everyone's favorite week of the month, App Thursday. This week we have a sensation group of candidates.

We have a really compelling mix of apps this week. Rebecca Bollwitt , Art Factora, Isaac Kendall and Sean Kennedy all brought great apps.

There are Beer Apps, Personal Safety Apps, Health Apps, Productivity Apps, Security Apps, And even Sex Apps, yep Sex Apps, you will never guess who brought that App!

DT 138 - 30 Years of Mac

Like so many of my generation, the iconic product that I identify most strongly with, is the Mac. January 5, 1984, the legendary Super Bowl ad announcing the arrival of the Mac was the first step on a journey of discovery that so many of us took.

This week on the show I am thrilled to welcome into the studio 2 old colleagues of mine who were around in those first days with me as we discovered the Mac and learned what it could do for us. As you will discover by listening to the show, those were heady times, the world was truly our oyster. We fully embraced the concept of thinking differently, and believed that the Mac could be a catalyst to change the world.

Ian Selbie and Kevin Jampole are my guests, and they share their memories of the early days of the Macintosh. I hope we capture and share some of the enthusiasm and excitement that surrounded the Mac in it's early days.

DT 137 - App Thursday

This week App thursday brings 2 new faces to Dotto Tech, actually one new face, Sean Kennedy, and one old friend, in Mike Vardy. John Biehler and Art factora round out the roster.

Some great Apps were put forward this week with a tie finally decided on, after much complaining (as usual) from Art.
